IMG_2977_editedThe folk guitar course will cover a range of techniques and ways of working with traditional folk songs. You will learn to use common accompaniment styles, explore open tunings, experiment with drones, and learn to play full thumb and fingers arrangements of folk tunes. There will be session working with recordings of unaccompanied singers, using what we have learned to develop your own guitar parts and “recompose” this raw source material. We will also look at some of the big folk guitar innovators such as Martin Carthy, Chris Wood and Sam Amidon.

This workshop is aimed at players who can already play their guitar at a basic level. The tunes will be taught by ear so you don’t need to read music.
