Scottish Country Dancing

gwennie_dancingScottish country dancing is fun social dancing suitable for all ages. There is some cross over with ceilidh but Scottish country dances are a little more complex in structure. They come in the form of jigs, reels and strathspeys. For the classes we’ll be focusing on the reels which are danced in sets of three or four couples and made up of a set of figures relevant to the particular reel. Reels are fast and lively dances and accompanied by upbeat Celtic music which will have you flying around the floor in no time!

Over the course we will be looking at The Duke of Perth, Hamilton House, Mhairie’s Wedding, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Speed the Plow, Eightsome Reel and the Reel of the 51st division.
