Summer Camp – Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s the answers to some frequently asked questions about this year’s Trad Academy Summer Camp.  If you’ve got any other questions do please get in touch with us.

Does my child need to be able to play an instrument?

Yes. The camp is planned to be an inclusive experience and we accept all ability levels but basic knowledge/ability on an instrument is recommended to attend Trad Academy Summer Camp.

Does my child need to bring their own instrument?

Yes. Please get in touch if you have any specific needs/questions on this topic.

Can my child bring more than one instrument?

Yes of course. Please make sure belongings are properly labelled and are ok to come to camp (nothing too valuable/irreaplaceable).

Are parents/guardians invited to stay for the duration of the week?

No. We invite parents/guardians to stay for a few hours when first arriving at the Chellington Centre on Sunday evening. Then at the end of the week we will have a concert/showcase for all the parents/guardians followed by food and celebration. This will give us a chance to share some of what we’ve created during the week.

Have all the staff been police-checked and possess up to date DBS/CRB documents?

Yes.

What will my child come away with by the end of the week?

An incredible experience! We are going to be singing, dancing and playing our way through the week, indoors and outdoors.

How do I get in touch with my child over the week?

We will have several contact numbers for parents to get in touch with us if needed. A child may contact their parent in special circumstances although we want to keep contact over the week to a minimum. Letters home are encouraged. Phone calls are kept for emergency situations.

Can my child bring electronic devices to camp?

It’s best to leave electronics at home. We cannot ensure the safety of certain valuables such as ipads/mobiles. We also ask that children leave devices at home because of the atmosphere we are creating.

Will photos/videos be taken over the week?

We will not take any photos/videos without full parental consent.

What happens if my child is ill?

We will contact you immediately. We have a list of the closest GP, hospital, and emergency services. We have several drivers on site and a certified first-aider.
