Alice Cade

Alice started flatfooting at the age of 12 with Ira Bernstein, an inspirational master flatfooter from North Carolina, at Reading Cloggies festivals. After dancing on and off with local clogging side Tap and Sync, and jamming in sessions in her youth, other styles took over. On discovering the Old-Timey music scene in London, Alice reignited her love of flatfooting, and has developed a strong flatfoot scene in the area, sharing her knowledge and encouraging others to get stepping!

In 2013, Alice won a Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship to study flatfooting in Virginia/W Virginia, USA. There she learnt from greats such as Charlie Burton and Ira Bernstein, and immersed herself in the scene. She competed at Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention, and won 2nd Place at Clifftop Festival in West Virginia.

Alice dances with Cut-A-Shine, and has danced with The Water Tower Bucket Boys (Oregon), Foghorn Stringband (Oregon), and with the Folk Dance Re:Mixed project. She has taught alongside Kerry Fletcher at Cecil Sharp House, and at Fire in The Mountain Festival.
